Our Research Interests

We have extensive knowledge of the UK housing market and its interactions with the rest of the economy, having published many academic papers on the subject as well as having written extensively in the media. We have also acted as consultants for a number of mortgage lenders and other housing market participants.

Our research covers house price determination both at UK and regional levels; mortgage arrears and repossessions at UK (and the latter at regional levels); modelling loan conditions in the mortgage market e.g. loan to value ratios; modelling consumption at UK and regional levels and specifically examining the impact of housing and other wealth effects; regional migration, where the housing market plays another major role; and the determination of regional earnings and unemployment differentials, once again addressing the housing market influences.
